[subs] NEWS ZERO & Minna no news - Zero family's comments on Kobayashi-san's death (2017.06.23)
23rd-Jun-2017 06:10 pm
winkychan: (Default)
It's with great sadness that I bring you this sub.

Former News Zero caster Kobayashi Mao-san has passed away on June 23, at the age of 34, after a long battle with cancer.
You can read more details about the news on Arama Japan.

As we love Zero Family since a long time, and we loved Kobayashi Mao-san, AET and I stopped working on this week's News Zero to work on this instead, it was really important to us! So really really, thank you AET for allowing me to work on this so fast!

If you weren't around when Mao-san was on News Zero, you might remember her for appearing on Arashi no Shukudai-kun 57 [2007.11.05] (the sub is available here on [livejournal.com profile] arashiproject ).and Arashi no Shukudai-kun 137 [2009.05.11] (the sub is available here at [livejournal.com profile] stormy_team )

Just warning you though, the subs bellow are really difficult to watch (and they were even more difficult and painful to sub).
News Zero cancelled everything they planned to show and aired a beautiful report on Kobayashi Mao-san. It's not Monday, so Sho-san is not on the set, but they showed his official comment he made this morning.
Minna no news is the only program that aired Sho-san's full comment, that's why we subbed it as well (even if it's on the News Zero cut, but NZ edited it a bit).

All my condolences goes to Kobayashi-san's family, especially her two children and her husband, kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa. May she be remembered for all the wonderful things she's done, her wonderful smile, and the hope and strength she has given to other people through her blog while fighting the disease.

There will be a special program broadcast on NTV dedicated to Kobayashi Mao-san this monday at 9PM (Japan local time).

"My illness isn't what defines my life. My life has been rich and colourful." - Kobayashi Mao

I re-watched shukudai-kún 57 today at your suggestion. She was a special person, and the growth she displayed from that appearance and the person who shared such strength through her messages on her blog is incredible.

Thank you for working so hard to get this done so quickly.

That's why her name rang a bell. That's the episode where they made fried everything with Tempura batter, right?
This is really sad news. But thank you for subbing and sharing.

May I thank you for subbing and sharing this! I know how hard it must have been. I cried watching Sho's interview, and I saw pics of the lovely tribute that they did on ZERO this morning.

It truly is a sad thing that has happened. May she Rest In Peace.

Thank -you Winkychan for translating and sharing such an important moment. I saw the raw on facebook and while I could generally understand what had happened - your translations helped. Your translations help those of us trying to connect with Japan whose own language skills are not good enough yet. I value your efforts so much.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute for Mao with everyone, both of you! It's not something light to watch, and must have been even more emotionally challenging to sub.

Mao's beautiful personality is evident through the comments full of love everyone in the Zero family gave here. She obviously made a huge impact on all their lives, and many more lives out there to count. Mao's strength also showed through her blog posts, and I am positive there are many out there who receive courage from her as much as she did from everyone who supported her.

I extend my condolences for her family, particularly her husband and children. May she rest in peace.

Thank you for translating. I saw clips in Twitter of Sho crying & wondered what happened. I was saddened by the news cause Mao-san is still young & Sho was really affected. Now I can watch it with subbed & I can't help myself to cry upon seeing Sho.

I watched News Zero last night, it was devastating especially watching Ebizo-san's press conference. Mao-chan was a very beautiful and sweet girl and mother. She was always smiling, even in the last picture she posted on her blog. She was so strong. I'm so sad...

Thank you so much, AET & Winkysho, for bringing this beautiful and special documental about Kobayashi Mao so fast.

I read the entry and tears came out. This woman... Was incredible! I've been following Zero since I became a fan (and learnt Sho was a caster), which was just a couple of months after the start of the program. She was really young back then yet so professional. And, like some said, she was bright and courageous. Then... Sho crying. The casters at the studio seemed to hold on but Sho's... She, plus her husband and all her beloved ones, were fighting such a tough fight and it is very "悔しい", very frustrating, like Sho expressed.

Again, thank you very much.
Rest In Peace, Mao Kobayashi

I can't watch this. Knowing that her two young kids won't have their mother watch them grow up BREAKS MY HEART, as I am a mother myself. I checked out her blog and it just seemed like she was enjoying her life (despite being so sick) and spending as much time with her kids, sister, family as possible. The only comfort in this is knowing that her kids will forever be loved.
